As many of you know my house has 2 bedrooms with 6 family members! Peter and I took the smaller of two rooms (“before” post) when we found out I was expecting twins. We worked all summer and fall, slowly sifting through our junk, to get organized enough to fit into our new smaller space.

Here are some decor shots from my new bedroom.

I kept that old farm house window from the garbage pile! Click here for my post about sorting and purging, in which, I claimed I would simply perish if I didn’t have that window. (even though it went unused for 3 years)

More re-purposed farm wood! This board was part of a chicken coop of yesteryear and discarded. I washed her up, removed the nails and gave a once over with some sand paper. I used a light white wash to brighten it up a bit. Then I added my name with a sharpie and stencils. Of course the year of establishment is our wedding year. I can’t believe I’ve been married over 7 years already!

Well, I just noticed the shelf decor could use a little more centering.

• Peel and stick linoleum flooring (Do not install this if you ever plan on potty training a little boy! The cracks soak up everything!)

• The paint on the wall was from the recycling center -  FREE
• All the accessories were found at thrift stores or garage sales.  Around $13
• The towel rack hooks were $1 each at Home Depot
• White towel $2 at Wal-mart
• Tile flooring materials about $90 (Tile was FREE – surplus from a friend)
• Craft paint $4

Result-

Making a bold decor statement in the bathroom was so fun! I like the uniqueness of my bathroom. It’s so theme-y without actually belonging to a “bathroom set” like you would find a department store.

Towel Rack from 25 cent Shutter

We are deep in the midst of giving our main level a face lift.  Thanks to my father-in-law (fil) Phil our new flooring is installed! It is so much better than the previous dirty carpet. [That will be his new blog name, Fil Phil.] It is so fun to see plans spring into realities.

We are over time, over budget and overwhelmed. We’ll manage but I can tell that I have some heart work to do as I seem to be fumbling a bit with my patience and grace during this challenge.

Kids

Meanwhile, my little guy just turned 4! We had a doughnut breakfast around a patio table in the middle of the living room to celebrate. His Super Hero party will be coming when I can have a tool-free floor again.

Kitchen

This morning I botched a double batch of apple oatmeal cookies I was going to send to Texas. What? Who knew that 1 cup of baking soda is not the same as 1 tsp.? Yikes!

Yes, that is my refrigerator in the living room.  So technically this is a picture of my kitchiving room.

Decorating

I moved my dresser into the kids room and made a mock diaper station on the top. Nice move. No pictures yet because it’s “nap” time which really is more like WW 3 this afternoon. We are going on 45 minutes of battle…still no quietness from either of them. Geesh!

Things I want to do but it might be too late (too cold):

• Paint a rehab dresser and place it in my room.
• Re-purpose a office hutch topper into a toy storage unit for the new living room.
• Fix up a $5 (garage sale find) bookcase for all the littering kids books reproducing in my home!
