Recipe: GF Mozzarella Sticks
Ingredients:
8 mozzarella cheese sticks
1 cup gluten-free breadcrumbs
1/2 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions:
- Prepare the mozzarella sticks. Cut the mozzarella sticks in half.
- Freeze them for 30 minutes to ensure they don’t melt too quickly during cooking
- Set up a breading station:
Bowl 1: Gluten-free flour.
Bowl 2: Whisk together the eggs and milk.
Bowl 3: Mix gluten-free breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. - Bread the mozzarella sticks:Coat each stick in flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and roll in breadcrumbs.Repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps for a second coating for extra crispiness.
- Freeze the coated sticks for another 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Air fry the mozzarella sticks:
• Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
• Place the mozzarella sticks in a single layer without overcrowding.
• Lightly spray the tops of the sticks with oil for even more crispiness. (Optional)
• Air fry for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy. - Serve: Enjoy immediately with marinara sauce or your favorite gluten-free dip.
